17th September 2009
Windsurfing: Fraisthorpe
Wind Direction: NNE
Wind Stength: 17mph
Surf / Sea State: Small waves
Air Temperature: 15C
Sea Temperature: OK
Weather: Cloudy but bright
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Fraisthorpe with almost cross-shore wind and a nice swell giving some small waves. 90 litre Max-2-Air with 5.8m was fine although it was hard to keep upwind. Snagged my foot on some wires that someone has anchored to the beach with buoys at intervals - not sure what they are for, but they do get in the way if you slip downwind. Had a really good morning - a few jumps and some half decent rides. Half-a-dozen boards plus a few kites out.

Later on changed to RRD FSW 100 which was much easier to keep upwind and sailed really nicely on the swell and cross-chop. High tide submerges the concrete sea defences making landing a bit tricky - came in on the back of a wave and stepped off, but it was still deep and the next wave ripped the rig out of my hands and I had to swim in after it. One small ding - I will give high tide a miss next time.
